her in a year or so and say, look at the field. vice president biden would be the big heavyweight. he's even older than she is. he's a big question mark. that would be an interesting dynamic. look at the field. no offense to cuomo, patrick, governor anybody else who might be thinking about this on the democratic side. but they're not in hillary clinton's league, at least today. she said her number one mission in life is the global empowerment of women. if they come to her in a year or so and say there's no one out there who can do what you can do, you can wait a little bit longer than anybody else, candy's dead right, the taj mahal is not in des moines, iowa. when she gets back out on the trail, as first lady of the arkansas and the united states she was so polarizing. and running for president. she loves this. she loves being loved. i think it depends on her health and what chelsea does in her family and professional life over the next couple of years. put the pull of history will be almost irresistible. >> you never know. pretty amazing. candy, thanks very much. john king, thank

biden met with police chiefs and sheriffs at the white house today to discuss ways to curb gun violence. the white house is pushing congress to approve an assault weapons ban in a step that they hope will avoid other mass shootings. the police chiefs of aurora, colorado, and newtown, connecticut, and other cities that have faced deadly shooting sprees were there at the meeting. also there, the police chief of chicago where too many people are dying due to gun violence. there were more than 500 homicides in chicago last year, and that's up more than 30% from the year before. so far this year, 40 deaths, and we're not even out of january yet. just this weekend, nine people were killed in shootings across the country. among them, a 33-year-old man. his mom is mourning his loss tonight, and she knows the pain all too well. this is her fourth child to die due to gun violence. she spoke to ted. here's his report. >> it's hard. it's very hard. i don't want no mother, no father to ever go through this, ever. >> reporter: this is how shirley chambers likes to remember her children, four

was attending a violence prevention forum in washington. she'll leave to talk to joseph biden. and a co-author of the bill that would allow teachers in the state to carry concealed weapons. senator, it seems like this was some sort of personal dispute that spiraled out of control. there are details we don't know. it could have turned into a shooting incident that endangered other people only because one of the suspects had a gun on them. does anything that happened today make you rethink that it is a good idea to have young people carrying guns on a campus or anywhere? >> well, anderson, with all due respect, i don't think a lot of people in the mainstream media back east maybe understand texas. in texas, we understand that you have to be 21 to have a chl on campus. and, in fact, and senator brian birdwell who is the lead on this bill and 12 of us have already co-authored the bill with him. you have to understand, anderson, when things happen like this, it only re-emphasizes the issue that people must have a right to defend themselves. people who are responsible, people with chls, by
